So we noticed it was happening on 1 aol account and not the other. I would sign in by clicking on the general Login word and my husband was clicking on the mail icon next to it. He would get the auth clear pop up when signing out. I don't. When I signed in using the mail ICON I did get the authclear pop up.
So then he tried signing by clicking on the word Login and signed out, he DID NOT get the authclear pop up.
So check how you are logging in. We don't know why this makes a difference but it does.
Hey RONMARC1,
We understand every time you log out of AOL Mail, a download file called "authClear" is created. Are you using Safari to access AOL? If so, review this article here: About pop-up ads and windows in Safari
Take care.

Contact your AOL email provider about this anomaly.

I've had this issue since the last update, also using Safari to open aol.
This reply, as with so many others, suggest checking to see that you have the latest update. More often than not, when these issues and questions come up it's within a few days or weeks after I, specifically, update to the lates OS, currently Big Sur 11.4. I trust things will be repaired with the next update, but would it not be better if updates were not issued with flaws in the first place.
