I swim in place, how can I best track it using my watch?

I have the Apple Watch 4, and I use tethered swim ropes to swim in place. I don't see my heart rate tracked and it asks me how far my laps are. Anyone have an idea how best to track my calorie burn using this exercise method? thanks in advance
