Suddenly can't burn playlists to a CD-R disk. unknown error occurred (0xC0AA0301)

Never had disk burn problems on my PC until recently. Attempt to burn a selected playlist onto a CD-R disk, and burn works for maybe 15 seconds and then quits. "Unknown error occurred (0xC0AA0301)

Check that all the content you're trying to burn plays fully in iTunes first.

Try right-click > Burn Playlist to Disc from the playlist name in the sidebar over File > Burn Playlist to Disc. The file menu method seems to have been broken for some time. Might pay to test with some erasable discs first. Note you cannot burn content that is in the cloud or comes via an Apple Music subscription.

That did not work. I right-clicked on the desired playlist and then selected "burn." I believe that is what you suggested. Results were the same--Copy process appears to start, bombs after maybe 10 seconds, and then that "unknown error message". I have tried so many things up to this point: I have made sure all playlist songs that I have purchased from Itunes stores are "authorized," have run Itunes diagnostics on my computer's CD/DVD drive (using a prerecorded disk as directed (Itunes says everything "passed"), have successfully recorded the playlist onto a DVD-R disk and then played that disk on the CD/DVD drive in my computer (it does not, as instructions indicate, play on a home CD player), and this DVD-R recording success suggests to me that there is no optical alignment problem with my computer's CD/DVR drive. I have Itunes version 12.11.17. Some on-line help suggestions have said that each song must be "checked" to successfully record. I used to be able to "check" all the songs individually in the playlist, but I can no longer find a way to do that in the latest Itunes version. Must I really just give up on recording playlists? I have wasted so many disks and am so utterly bummed. Thanks for your earlier response, though.

I neglected to mention that yes, I saw the burn speed suggestion somewhere and tried specifying 24X. Still the same result. I have AVAST anti-virus software but don't know how/am reluctant to turn it off while burning. I might try it, though. That is a new suggestion that I have not heard of before. I have a big stack of CD-R disks and don't want to go out to buy erasable disks (25 minutes beyond my very rural home) for testing purposes. I can live with the waste of my CD-Rs if only I can find the burn fix. Thank you again for being out in the ether and trying to help. Very much appreciated!
