I got a new iPhone and transferred all my info. Now it won't show all my emails, unlike the previous phone. I went to Settings, but "Show More" is no longer an option on the latest iOS.
It's annoying because I know I have 20 unread messages - I keep them unread on purpose. Yet on my iPhone it says "0 unread".

Got it to work. I scrolled down to the bottom of the mailbox and Mail decided to download (and display) more emails. It didn't show all the missing unread emails right away but over the course of a few hours, regularly refreshing and scrolling to the bottom, I got them all. Weirdly, getting new incoming emails also helped the process.

The weirdest part is that it was all working until I changed my iPhone from a 7 to a 12. The 7 was running the latest iOS too. Maybe something I had activated years back which got carried across even though the setting had disappeared?
Settings, Mail, Accounts
Tap on the account and see if "Days To Sync" can be increased to "No LImit"
Where is this setting? I don't see it in Accounts.
Tap on the account itself
Some like Microsoft accounts have Mail days to sync
Some like Google do not allow more than 30 days
Some mail provider accounts have no choice,
You may have had POP account and you added IMAP version in which case the POP messages may have disappeared.
Ah yes “show more” is at the bottom of the list quite often.
