Apple Podcasts not refreshing - Big Sur 13.3.1

I downloaded Big Sur 13.3.1 to my iMac last week and since the weekend I can't refresh any of my Apple Podcast feeds/episodes. They are all frozen in time and even when I do a general browse/search, the latest episodes aren't shown. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any advice on how to fix it?

I was chasing a related issue -- just upgraded to Big Sur 13.4 with an iPhone 12 running 14.6. Backups to computer and syncing changed photos or music libraries would work fine, but all of my downloaded podcasts from the MBP to the phone were no longer downloaded. They were listed, but only available if I turned on downloading on the phone. (I keep the library on the Mac and don't allow the iPhone to grab new ones as I listen in chronological order and that would defeat my station's settings.)

Turns out, I had never launched the Podcasts app when moving from 10.15 to 11. I had launched Photos and Music prior to my weekly sync of the phone. Once the Podcasts app had refreshed its library on the Mac, syncing worked fine between the Mac and the iPhone. It's these little behaviors that bug the **** out of me. Apple: suggest to a user to relaunch every app after making a big system upgrade -- it may make your tech support less frustrated.

This. I am running Mac OS 11.4 and iPhone OS14.6. Since the update podcasts stopped syncing/updating on the Macbook. Quitting podcasts on the Mac, then quitting podcasts on the phone, then restarting on the phone, then restarting on the Mac and now podcasts seem to be syncing and updating. At least until Mac OS 11.4.1 and iOS 14.6.1 come out. Note -this is why I have OS updates set to manual on both devices. Still got caught out on this 'tho.

My big sur laptop never prompts me to update. Apple doesn't release incremental or 'combo' updates anymore. So I check news sites for Apple updates. When there is one, Apple makes it available as 'the' big sur download. I get it from the store and install it. That's the only way I know to update.

What is going on? Exactly as you say. I just can't access new podcasts on my Macbook (OS 11.4) but I see them on my phone (iOS 14.6), for 2 weeks now. I listen to podcasts every day on an elderly much cherished iPod classic. ITunes was cumbersome but worked better than this. Apple just lost another customer....

This issue persists on Big Sur 14.5.1. My desktop Podcasts app will not sync new episodes - I have to find the show on podcasts.apple.com and click the "Listen on Apple Podcasts" link to see the latest shows in the app. Listening progress is also not synced between devices.

Perhaps it is as simple as unsubscribing (do they really call it follow / unfollow now?), then resubscribing. Of course, if you want old podcasts, you'll have to do the 'see all' bit, select all of them, and control-click to download them all. Then wade through what you don't want to listen to again.

Or prior to doing that, explore the settings (•••) on each show to insure you are still following. Mine is running fine again after my weird quirk. Best of luck.
