iPhone 12pro max focus problem

Bought a iPhone 12 Pro Max after owning every iPhone ever released and can focus on small items ?? I’m a goldsmith and need to take these kind of photos so the phone is terrible for me.

its this a problem with the iPhone pro max?

Iphone 12 pro max auto focus does not work!!! I am really concerned since i cannot take photos since my camera cannot focus pics.If the focus is 1x or more its blurry ,and if its bellow 1x (like 0.9. Or bellow its working and it can focus) . I did not drop my phone or something.What to do???Thanks a million. Alex
