stop finder tags from syncing in dropbox

I would like to use Finder tags to organize things on my computer, but any organization I do is un-done by the large number of people working across my work-related drop boxes who are also using tags. I know I could create my own unique tag names and hide all others, but would also prefer not to send my tags to everyone else attached to synced files and chance having them just start using the ones I created, starting the cycle all over again. Is there a way to prevent the system from syncing this tag information? (Have already asked Dropbox support about this, seems like if there is a way it would have to be through Finder?)

Thank you!

Tags are attached to the file. There isn't a list that says this file has that tag. The tag is part of the file.

If the network file system supports metadata, then the Tag will go along with the file on the network.

This may fix the problem of you writing the Tags, but it will also prevent a few other things like maintaining the view of the folder.

You would still see everyone else's tags, and I don't know if you would be able to view the Tags you created.
