Why don't I have Apple news on my new iMac? It's on my new MacBook...

I also can't find the Apple news app online or in the App store -- only Apple news+, which needs a paid subscription. And yet I have a free Apple news (with limits on some articles) on my new MacBook Air. Why can't I get this version on my iMac Retina 5K 27 running macOS Big Sur version 11.4?
"News" would be in the Applications folder.

No idea why you don't have the News app. It's been available since macOS Mojave 10.14. There is no separate download.
I looked on my MacBook Air (where I have Apple news) and thers is no app in the Applications folder or Utilities folder. What kind of beast is this?
