M1 MacBook Air Pink Screen Crashing

I received this M1 MPA a couple days ago. It's a 16RAM version with 7 core GPU. This Mac seems to be constantly crashing every two hours or so showing a pink screen and a reboot. Is there any solution to the issue or should I return it?

Here's the log.

Apple silicon - Safe Mode

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
  3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
  4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

And Test if the crashing continues. If not - there might be a User Account issue

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been experiencing the same kernel panic issue on my 3 weeks old Mac air m1, couldn’t update to Monterey, took the device to service for two times, was about to lose my hope. Then I did this and managed to update to Monterey. Hope kernel panics don’t occur again.. Also I realized that on Monterey there isn’t that “Mirror Displays” box to uncheck, so maybe Apple was aware of this bug and intentionally remove it with update? Who knows.. I hope other people experiencing the same issue see this solution.

MBP refurb 2020. I've had this happen daily in all kinds of software contexts. Editing code, watching videos, using finder. I haven't connected a single peripheral device (wired or bluetooth). It happens plugged into power and unplugged.

For me, I think it's bad hardware. It happens sometimes. :(

The pink screen followed by a reboot is caused when the M1 Macbook is connected to an external display and in clamshell mode.

I have tried two different hubs and connecting the Apple Thunderbolt displays directly to the M1 Macbook, and it also happens.

I think it is related to the Mac going into sleep mode. I don't let the Mac go to sleep mode by activating an anti-sleep app called Theine and leaving the Mac lid open.

That’s not the case for all machines. When I said I had not a single peripheral attached, that included monitors. No other hardware whatsoever. Also independent of being plugged in and charging.

I’m not sure whether clamshell mode refers to lid closed or open; in my experience a clamshell can do both :) but for me, since I’ve been using it exclusively as a laptop, mine is open.

This issue has happened with me, however, I am out of the 14 day 'cool off' period for consumers.

On multiple occasions I've had the issue where my laptop has crashed, showed a black screen - with blocks of pixelated pink and then its rebooted and restarted.

This was purchased around 2-3 months ago (MacBook Pro 13" with the M1 Chip)... What should I do to prevent this happening again or should I also request a return/swap?

Thanks,

Danny
