Siri Shortcut to Google Assistant doesn't speak results

I've setup a Siri shortcut to invoke Google Assistant. When I activate Google Assistant via "Hey Siri, OK Google" and ask it a question, it always displays the result on the screen, but will not speak the results.

If I activate Google Assistant directly and ask a question via the microphone, the Google Assistant will speak the results.

So, how do I configure the Siri shortcut to speak the Google Assistant results?

Thank you for your reply. Siri has and still works fine by itself. I checked everything you listed and all settings were correct. I tried changing the Siri voice but it made no difference. The issue is that when I use a Siri short cut to the Google Assistant app, Siri says “what do you want to ask Google”. I then ask a question which Siri seems to relay to the Google Assistant app correctly but I never get a spoken reply. It always just displays the answer on the screen. If I invoke the Google Assistant app myself and ask the same question, I do get a spoken reply. I don’t understand why invoking the Google Assistant app through Siri does not give me a spoken reply. Any other possibilities you can think of?

Hello frogsinthecreek,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that Siri is not speaking replies but does show the replies on the screen. In a situation like this we need to test a few things. Does Siri respond if you say, "Hey Siri, Tell me a story?"

Also, make a request from Siri and while Siri is supposed to be replying try adjust the volume as Siri has its own volume settings.

Check to make sure that Always Speak Responses is enabled by tapping Settings > Accessibility > Siri > Voice Feedback is set to "Always Speak Responses".

Make sure Type to Siri is turned by tapping Settings > Accessibility > Siri > "Type to Siri" is turned Off.

Open the Control Panel and check the audio settings and see if it is set to a device other than the iPhone.

Lastly, change the Siri voice and test it. Settings > Siri & Search > Siri Voice

Let us know the results of these steps so we can further assist you.

Best Regards.
