My Apple Watch series 4 is stuck on the highest level of brightness I’ve adjusted the slider in the display settings on the watch and on the iPhone Apple Watch app all to no avail. I’ve unpaired and repaired and that doesn’t make any difference.
This may be a result of true tone where the display will automatically adjust the brightness based off of the lighting in the environment that you've in. I don't know of a way to turn it off or a solution, but I'd think that may be the problem.
Should the ambient sensor not react to a dark room and dull the screen? That’s what it used to do?
This is the ambient light sensor kicking in,this adjusts your screen brightness to match the surrounding area,there is no setting or configuration for this.
No as daft as it sounds if the room is dark then the watch goes dark.
