Unlogging other users from my older laptop MacBook computer..

How can i UNLOG two users on my older MacBook. They are "greyed" out in users , and even if i unlock the lock on the bottom, i can't seem to remove them. They have an orange check next to their name which just means that the computer thinks they are still logged in. I want to upgrade to Big Sur now that i have my computer back from my grandkids,..but it won't let me unless these two other users are UNLOGGED. THEY can't remember their passwords!! THANKS for helping out!

Hi momuv2dox,

We understand you'd like to remove old users from your computer. We're happy to help.

You can use these steps to remove users from the computer:

  1. "On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups

If the lock at the bottom left is locked , click it to unlock the preference pane.

2. Select the user or group you want to delete, then click the Remove button  (looks like a minus sign) below the list of users.

If other users are logged in to this Mac now, you can restart the computer to log them out so you'll be able to remove the accounts"

Delete a user or group on Mac

We hope this helps. Cheers!
