Trying to subscribe to Binge on our Apple TV

I’m trying to subscribe to Binge through my Apple TV and iTunes, but Binge says there is a problem with the bank. Bank and ITunes say credit card is accepted. What do I do next

iPhone SE, iOS 14

If you tried to subscribe in-app on an Apple device, then the subscription will be linked to your Apple ID account, and payment will be done through the default payment method for your Apple ID account.

Subscriptions require a payment method that can be charged periodically and automatically, using an implicit one time electronic fiat in advance. That may have stricter requirements for cards, compared to one time purchases (e.g. renting a movie).

For in-app purchases, payment arrangements are done through Apple, and Binge wouldn’t know about problems with a bank. Although the message of a problem may be shown in the app.

If none of your payment methods are accepted, then consider using account balance (store credit). Starting a subscription may then require at least the amount to cover the fee for one billing cycle. It is the user’s responsibility to have enough funds on the account on the next due day (i.e. set your own reminders).
