Notifications Not Clearing On iPad

Hey all! I've looked all over the internet for a solution to this to no avail.

I'm using Continuity between my iPhone and iPad to mirror all notifications from one to the other. When I check or clear a notification on my iPad, it instantly clears on my phone, but it doesn't work the other way. When I check or clear a notification on my phone, the notification remains on the iPad until I click into and out of the app. This includes showing on the lock screen and the notification dot itself. I've looked all through Settings and can't find a reason this is working one way and not the other.

Any feedback or help on this? Thanks much!

Hugheserton,

Thank you for clarifying that for us. We see that you tagged iPadOS 14, are you running the latest version (14.6)? Also, is the iPhone running the latest version of iOS 14 as well ( iOS 14.6)? Have both devices been restarted since noticing this issue? Are there any updates available for the third party apps?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We know how important it is for your notification and information to sync across your devices and we'd be happy to help. Is this happening for a specific app or does it happen for multiple apps. Also, are they Apple apps or is this happening with third-party apps. The reason we ask is that not all apps are compatible with continuity and the notifications would need to be cleared separately on each device.

I just tested to be sure, and it is happening with all apps. The most common are the Apple Mail app and stock Messages app. As mentioned, all of my notifications, third party included, do clear on my phone when I check them on my iPad. But it doesn’t work the other way around.

Any further help is appreciated.
