In the control center, the flashlight symbol has a minus sign next to it. I’m unable to use the flashlight

How do I remove the minus sign next to the flashlight in the Control Center and access the flashlight?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

Good Afternoon Anna491,

We see you're unable to use the flashlight, and we understand how convenient this can be to use so let's look into this together.

We'd first recommend confirming that you're up to date with the software on your iPhone to see if that may clear up the minus sign that you're seeing. For assistance with updating, if you need, check out the following resource:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you see that your iPhone is up to date, or if updating doesn't clear this up, let's take a look at the section labeled "If the flash isn't working" of the following resource. Also, do you see that flash works when you take a picture with the Camera app? If you're unsure, test this out to see what the results are.

If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

Lastly, if that doesn't apply to what you're experiencing, let's edit the Control Center to see if removing, then adding the flashlight helps to gain access to the flashlight. For the steps on how to do this, check out this resource:

Edit Control Center on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

We hope this is able to help.

Have a great day!
