My wife's iPhone was originally set up to use my Apple ID. As she has her own Apple ID this was a mistake that we'd like to correct by switching her phone to use her own Apple ID. How is this done?

If you want to reset the device and have a clean start, before changing the ID, do the steps in the article below.
Or if you want to keep the data, when changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes.
