iOS 14.6, Apple Watch, Face ID with mask???

After upgrading iPhone to iOS14.6 & watch to watchOS 7.5, the unlock with face mask stopped working saying “bring your watch closer” everytime.

Before these 2 upgrades, it was working perfectly fine.

Then you either use your iPhone passcode, or you take off your mask. Or if you do not care about security, you remove all security on your iPhone.

Does this feature work with an iPad or iPad mini? I can’t seem to locate any information in the iDevice’s settings allowing me to active the feature on my iPad. I can perform the function on my iPhone synched to my watch. It would be great to have this feature i.e., being able to open an iPad or iPad mini when one is wearing a mask. This is often the situation in an operating room or certain labs.

Thank you all for your help. This feature would be nice to incorporate into the iPad and iPad mini since they are used in operating rooms frequently. Of course, we all should remember to wipe down our equipment to prevent the spread of disease.

For this feature to work, you must update your Apple Watch to watchOS 7.5

I was having the same issue and after updating I was able to unlock my iPhone using a mask.
