Latest Apple TV, 2020 Visio TV, 2020 Visio Sound bar with ARC.

audio sync between sound bar and HomePods is difficult to achieve and maintain for Movie watching.

what is the setup procedure to maintain audio sync of stereo HomePods and soundbar?

HomePods home theater is not intended to be combined with other speaker systems.

What I do to get it to work:

default tv speakers in Apple TV settings
play audio app (movie, music, etc)
play content
In settings for the app select stereo HomePods
In some apps this deselected the tv speakers, when this happens, deselect the tv speakers. Both are selected.
enjoy the sound.
if timing issues, Do audio sync in Apply TV settings
