FaceTime fails to connect immediately

Hello, I have a new 4th Gen iPad Pro 12.9" (20 days-old out of package), and it consistently fails FaceTime (both video and audio only). both using it to call and receive calls.

Details following:

  • All devices used to FaceTime to and from, and the problematic iPad itself are up-to-date at time of posting (14.6)
  • Another, identical iPad Pro bought at the same time works fine (using the same Apple ID account)
  • If I reset network settings, complete erase & reset, toggle WiFi / Airplane Mode on/off, etc. FaceTime will work for a few minutes after that. But will then consistently fail again shortly after
  • Tested with the iPad right next to the router using both 2.4 and 5 GHz, same failures (50 Mbps connection)
  • Deleted FaceTime app and reinstalled

Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hello peter2658,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you’re having a problem with your iPad Pro. We would be happy to help!

We understand you’ve done quite a bit of troubleshooting already. With that in mind, we recommend trying these steps: If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime. If the issue continues, you may want to contact Apple Support.

Cheers!
