I have bought a 2020 model MacBook Air and I feel like the camera quality is very poor compared to other laptops. The video/photo is not clear as we expect and it has lots of grains like the old vga cameras. Right now I'm using third party camera app and connecting to my iPad to use iPads camera as the webcam in my MacBook. Is this a known issue with the 2020 model and if its yes what's the way forward.

It is not an issue. That built-in camera in your 2020 MacBook Air is only 720P. The results from that camera are what you will get when using it.
