Does anyone have experience with CD Spin Doctor?
Bob,
Spin Doctor is a Roxio product. From a perusal of their website, it appears they are hardly supporting it any more. You might give Audacity a try (free open-source SW). Or you can try your GarageBand question in the GB Forum:

Discussion of audio hijack tools is prohibited on this forum. However, we do suggest that you rip your CDs the normal way:
Import songs from CDs into Music on Mac - Apple Support
Import songs from CDs into iTunes on PC - Apple Support
I do that for my CD's. However, I have a stack of LP's that I want to include in my iTunes library. They aren't already digitized. What I want to do is not hyjacking. I own the LP's and just want to digitize them so I can include them in my personal music library. I digitized a number of them years ago but my OS has been updated so many times I no longer have the software that I used. I also keep all of my CD's. I did see that it could be done with Garage Band.
I did try to install Garageband however I got the message "GarageBand can’t be installed on “Bob's MacPro” because macOS version 11 or later is required." That makes no sense since I am running 10.13.6.
