Hi JrEspino502,

Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) mode is a special mode that is only applicable on chips manufactured directly by Apple. These include all Apple SoCs for iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, as well as certain Mac chips.

The following Mac chips are manufactured directly by Apple and support DFU mode:

  • T2 Security Chip
  • M1 (SoC)
  • Future Apple silicon chips (SoCs)

Macs made in 2013 do not have any major chips made by Apple inside them (with the exception of the SMC), and therefore do not support DFU mode.
