Does firewall act as antivirus on my macbook air

A firewall and antivirus software do different things.

Virus protection is built into macOS. The firewall is something else entirely.

For what it's worth, there are no known viruses in the wild that can affect macOS.

Malware and adware rely on conning you into installing them. They are not viruses.
