why do I keep getting a command popup telling me the default interactive shell is not zsh?? It says to update my account, I need to run chsh -s /bin/zsh Will that screw things up on my computer?

There are many different Shells available to you. Apple has moved away from bash and the new default is zsh.
If you have no compelling reason to not move to the zsh— then follow the instructions. It is not designed to "screw things up on my computer."
