Locked out of my Ipad

ive been locked out of my Ipad for couple months now, i forgot my password or someone got on it and changed it but when I click on the side button it tells me to connect to Itunes because its disabled for attempting putting in passwords too many times.

If you forgot the passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is disabled - Apple Support
