I found an Apple watch in my car. Now, trying to find its owner but it is locked. How can I unlock it to find out whose it is? My kids say it's not their friends- but I have to believe it is someone!

I recommend you hand the watch over to the police so they can log the serial number and locate the owner quickly.
an alternate option is to hold down the power button on the side and see if they have a medical ID set up with emergency contacts. if they do then try calling on of these to arrange a return.

You cannot unlock it.
Hand it in to the local police,it may have been reported lost.
It's possible that it is marked as lost. If you have a lost-and-found on the area where you found it, better turn it to them.
