How to update Bluetooth on MacBook Pro 13"(Mid 2012, OS Mojave)

How to update Bluetooth on MacBook Pro 13"(Mid 2012, OS Mojave)?

Currently, LMP Version shows 4.0. Is it possible to upgrade to Bluetooth 5.0?

I have read somewhere that it might be better not to upgrade to 5.0 from 4.0 because it might corrupt somethings. If that's the case I would rather not upgrade and leave it as it is. BUT, if no negative ramifications, please tell me how to do that.

For the short answer: no, you cannot upgrade hardware components on a Mac and laptops are not considered user accessible.

hi, BreezeEverGreen.. to do that, you’d have to open up your Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, and swap the bluetooth module/card and Apple frowns on that, very much so. The other way would be to find a Mac os X , eg, Catalina, compatible Bluetooth 5.0 USB dongle…. Which are very rare currently… i haven’t seen or heard of one, anyways. The problem is that Macs only support Broadcom chips, and not Realtek, and that bluetooth 5.0 is very new. Plus it’s a real hassle to get working on a mac. You could probably do bluetooth 4.2 though… but that’s just a guess
