iCloud Files Missing

I do not understand iCloud. I have so many missing files. Where are my files?

Mac mini, macOS 11.3

Where are you looking for them?

Have a look at www.icloud.com (log in with your AppleID). Also check there 'Recently deleted' items

In your Mac, in Finder: go to Finder, Preferences, SideBar and select iCloud Drive. Do you see them now?
