How do I extend length of time before screen shuts off on iPad2?

MY SCREEN GOES BLACK AND i have to reopen and re enter code, and my work is GONE. how do I ikeep screen on?

It’s been quite a while since I was running iOS 9, but try Settings>General>Auto Lock. You should be able to select a different time in there.

At first I didn't find "Auto Lock" but when I searched for it I was able to change it to 15 minutes. Thanks very much.

You should be aware, the longer the Auto Lock time, the faster the battery will drain and on an over 10-year old iPad, that battery is on borrowed time.
