If you do not have access to a nearby Internet-connected Wi-Fi Router, you cannot get Wi-Fi DIRECTLY.

Any Wi-Fi dongle you add will simply duplicate the Wi-Fi capabilities already built into your Mac. But without access to your Internet-connected Router, you will still NOT have service.

If you have a phone with a data plan, you can share your phone's Internet access by enabling your phone as a Wi-Fi "Hot Spot".

Go to your retail store, and take a peek at the Original Packaging. If it mentions that it is compatible, then try purchasing it, seeing if you can set it as your default device.
