Trim A Master Clip

Well, after doing a poor job searching the FCP manual and this forum, I'm posting my question here, since I can't seem to find the answer on my own.

How can I trim a clip I've captured?

More specifically. I am capturing some old 8mm video using Capture Now. Most of the time I wind up with a longer clip than needed, since many of the old video tapes were never used up to the end. So, I would like to trim off the blank portions at the end of the clips. Can that be done?

Seriously, just leave the blank portions and move on ... just because they are there doesn;t mean you have to edit them into your masterpiece, that's what Mark In and Mark Out are for.

If you absolutely must trim them then you can mark the portions you wish to save and use Media Managers "Use Existing" command to trim them ... but if it all goes pear-shaped then you have only yourself to blame.
