Locked Apple Card Charged in iTunes Store

Hey everyone!

I have my Wallet on my iPhone set up with my bank/credit cards, Apple Card included (and it should be noted that the Apple Card has been LOCKED to prevent usage). For well over a 6 years have used the same card, we'll call CARD A, (outside of a number replacement change) which has been my default card for years. A few days ago I rented a movie on the iTunes Store, totaling the usual $4.32.

Today, I go to make a payment on the Apple Card in the Wallet and it was higher than normal, by how much you may ask...you guessed it, $4.32. I hop on Apple support and the person was trying very hard to help, but ultimately what I got out of it is that they can't refund or reverse the charge. They did transfer me to Apple Pay specialist that is trying to dispute the charge.

While talking to the support specialist, I go into the iTunes Store and in my "Account Information" and there is the Apple Card....set there as the primary card(?!):

  • Interestingly though, if I go to "Manage" > CARD A is showing on the top of the list and the Apple Card is listed below it. As most likely know the one at the top is primary.
  • I tried making the Apple Card primary and then changing it back to CARD A thinking that maybe it would correct the issue; however, going into the "Account Information" still shows the Apple Card as primary.
  • From there, I delete the Apple Card from the list on the Apple Store in iTunes, and when I go back to "Account Information" --- the Apple Card is still the primary?!
  • Also, on my iPhone in the Wallet under the Apple Card it still has the option to "Make Default at Apple" indicating to me that this shouldn't be the default app anywhere...?

I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue before? I find it interesting that they can automatically change the Apple Card like that especially since it has been locked! Now this has me wondering if it would prevent a charge from being made at all?! I also appreciate that it may not seem like much at $4.32 but I was trying to be very particular with how and when this Apple Card was used. I specifically don't like that it can be charged when it was locked!
