Login unsuccessful

I am unable to login so I tried to reset my password and I got the “your request could not be completed at this time.”

I know my password. It says it’s wrong. So I try to reset it and it gives me a number code and I enter it.

then it goes back to “reset your password” and I say I’ve forgotten my password and I sign in with my name and it will not allow me to change.

I can go in as a guest user, but only using safari and basic internet options. I need my files and to be able to access my accounts or go into preferences.
