Had to Reset iPhone, Unable to Access Clipper on Apple Wallet

I had to reset my iPhone XS and restore from a backup.

Prior to the reset, I had created and used a new Clipper card in my Apple wallet (not from a physical), and had some money on it still. When I tried to re-add it on my phone as I was setting up my phone again, it said it was unable to because I hit a “Card Device Limit” even though it’s the literal same phone and card.... it said I had to remove it from the other devices before adding it to this phone. Which is annoying because It’s the literal same phone and digital card.

Can someone help? Basically it’s Clipper $$$ in limbo, which is annoying. I can’t access it anywhere.

Hello ambling680,

Thank you for posting on Apple Support Communities.

Looks like that card has a limit to the amount of places it can be added. We understand this is the same device but it might have been that when you reset your iPhone the card did not receive the signal that it was removed.

We were able to locate some information for you directly from Clipper's website you might find useful. Go ahead and read these instructions: "Cards in Apple Wallet can be removed remotely by logging into iCloud.

  • Log into iCloud.com and select "Account Settings".
  • Select the device you want to remove cards from and follow the prompts to "Remove all" from wallet.
  • Log into the same iCloud account from another device and open the Wallet app.
  • Press the plus “+” icon.
  • Select “Clipper card” under Transit, tap Continue.
  • Select “Next” and follow prompts to add your Clipper card to Apple Wallet." - Clipper on your Phone

As mentioned on that page you might have to contact contact Clipper Customer Service for further assistance.

Good luck!
