Why Can't I Change My Battery Settings in my MacBook Air M1

Can anyone please tell me why I can't change my battery settings in my MacBook Air M1?

The lock appears for a second, then disappears.

Hello IntelligentRaven_,

To find the best solution to this, we'll need to know a bit more about your Mac. Are you using an administrator account? Also, do you have Screen Time enabled? We ask, because both of those settings can impact your ability to adjust System Preferences.

You can also try to boot your Mac into safe mode and see if the issue continues. Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Cheers!

Got it. Based on what you've told us, is sounds like third-party software may be the cause of the issue. We recommend Removing any unwanted apps or login items. Install and uninstall apps from the internet or disc on Mac & Remove login items to resolve startup problems on your Mac

If the issue continues after that, you may want to try to use Malwarebytes. Mac Antivirus | Malwarebytes Antivirus for Mac | Malwarebytes We've heard it can remove unwanted software that can cause issues like this.

Let us know if those steps resolve the issue.

I had the same problem and didn’t find much help anywhere else about this. This actually worked for me though thanks. Must admit though I’m a bit troubled by all these little small things that seem to plague these new m1s and Big Sur. My first Mac ever and the excitement is quickly fading away learning about all the small things that Apple has yet to fix. On the fence whether or not I should return it
