US Apple watch connection with Italy iPhone

Hi I have an iPhone bought in Italy, but I’m currently living in the US and I would like to buy an Apple Watch series 6 GPS in the US. Will it connect with my Italian phone? Even when I’ll go back to Italy?

If it's the GPS only watch then yes,if it is the cellular version then the cellular part wouldn't work and the watch would function as a GPS only model.
