function keys not working

I just had my MacBook battery replaced and they also changed the top case in the process. Now, when I press the "volume" keys or the "light" keys (basically any "function" key), none of them are working. They "lower volume" key (aka F11), removes all windows to show the desktop. I didn't change any keyboard configurations and haven't noticed anything strange when I check them in the "Settings / Keyboard".

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.2

Problem solved at the Apple Store (they had forgotten to run one of the setting tests when replacing the top case).
