How frequent the active calories get updated in Apple Watch

How frequent the active calories get updated in Apple Watch.

when I keep staring at my active calories in Apple Watch it jumps suddenly and I am not sure how frequent is this measure. Is it every 3 minutes. I also found it is not at the exact minute boundary but happens at different points in time. So my question
