Apple ID photo keeps changing on it's own

My Apple ID photo keeps changing on it's own. I have family sharing with my son and his picture keeps suddenly appearing in my ID as the family organizer. My photo is showing on my card in my contacts.

Hello kmynameis.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your Apple ID photo changing on its own. Specifically, it's changing to your son's picture. This doesn't sound like expected behavior. Please allow us to investigate what is occurring and see if we can assist.

You did mention you're using a Family Sharing group. Just to confirm, are you and your son sharing the same Apple ID or are you keeping your Apple IDs separate? The reason we ask is, sharing Apple IDs could mix data up such as photos. Are all the devices that are involved fully updated on their software versions? If you do have out-dated devices, let's create a backup and update your device. Keeping them fully updated can help resolve various issues and help with performance.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If everything is fully updated, we'd like you to check all the devices that are linked to your Apple ID. You'll want to make sure no one else is signed in to your device's and that your Apple ID is the only one in use. If you do see an account you don't recognize, check out the link below:

If everything checks out and you're not sharing Apple IDs, we strongly recommend that you reach out to Apple Support for further investigation. You can reach them by using the link below:

Hello,

I have been having the same issue, I have family sharing on my phone with my wife. We each have our own apple ID hooked up to our phones. When I change my card info to my contact info, it changes her card and picture to mine and vice versa. We have decided to use a photo with both of us on it as a compromise. : ) The annoying part is that our contact information changes:

What I just did now was:

  • Made sure that we are each on our own iCloud accounts.
  • I went into my phone's contacts and changed my card to my contact.
  • Then I went to her phone and watched her contact card change to mine.
  • I changed her picture on her contacts and then mine changed to the same picture.

Settings apple ID has the same picture as both phones, but it has my wife's apple id. My phone kept my apple Id information but changed the picture.

So to recap:

When I change a picture on the settings or contacts for the my card contact, it changes both phones picture on settings and contacts.

The IDs remain separate to the person's phone. But the My Card contact card changes both phones contact card to the same card...

Help.

I replied to this question because it is recent and also because it seems to be a similar problem.

Thank you for your help.

I own an iphone 12 update to today's software and my wife has a 5se with yesterday's software.
