Did Apple change the directory structure for their photos?

Mine has since gone to the YYYY_MM format back to the 133_APPLE folder name. Anyone know how to switch this back??

There is no way to switch it back. It is an internal data structure not intended to be accessed by users, so it is likely to change frequently. This appears to be the 3rd change in less than a year.

I just noticed the organizational system went back to the old way. I have disconnected and reconnected my phone, but it is back to the numbered apple folders. Bummer.

Well I’m about to update my phone to 14.7.1. Pray for me.

Hey this exact thing happened to me. Now I don't know how to find the backed up photos and the previous setup was easier (with year_month). Now I'm stuck with a partial backup and no clarity.

How come it changed back to stupid xxxApple structure in 14.7??? I do love the improved structure of month_year !!!!

yes it seems to have reverted to the 120APPLE format, which is inconvenient. There is no way to change it back to the 2020_08 etc format is there??

I love the new way too! It matches my personal folder filing system. I am gutted that it has reverted to the random numbers :(

If they change the structure of the folders so often why they present it in Windows Explorer in first place? If it's internal, hide it in Windows Explorer and never bother users with it.

As you would know if you bothered to read other messages in the thread you posted to, no, there is no way to change it back.

I did, and it really is a big bummer! It finally started to make some sense! The other tools Apple provides are terrible for this organizing. I wish they would have kept it, it was "rational".

Yep, it sure did. Reverted back to the previous incarnation without a trace.

I'm ******. That was such an improvement to finally have some sense on the folders!
