In Finder I have disclosure triangles shown for my folders when in List View, for "Documents," and "Desktop," but not "Downloads." When I switch "Downloads" to Column View, the disclosure triangles appear, so I can inspect folder contents in this view, but I would like to return the triangles in List View, as they have been for years. Any idea how I can do this? Shutting down and powering up a few minutes later did not help.
When you have the Downloads folder open make sure it is in List View,
click on View in the menubar and select Show View Options.
Set the Arrange By or Group By to None and Sort By to your preferred
preference. It is only with the Arrange By/ Group By set to None do you
see the disclosure triangles.
