Issue when installing Windows 10 on Macbook Pro 15" 2018 via Boot Camp

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Windows 10 on my Macbook Pro 15" 2018 via Boot Camp without any success. I've tried multiple suggestions that I can find on the interwebs but none of them really solve the problem. In general, the process went well until after the Install Updates step, and then the installer keeps throwing "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed"

That being said, it would be much appreciated if somebody could suggest a working solution. Some info about my current system:

Macbook Pro 15" 2018 with Big Sur 11.4

128GB of hard disk for Bootcamp partition produced by BCA

Windows 10 latest version downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

Best Regards,

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.4

I've tried resetting SMC as well as NVRAM/PRAM, fresh installing MacOS, etc., the results were always the same.

Eventually, I decided to downgrade Mac OS to Catalina and give it a try as I remember it was working fine when I first bought the machine, and it worked. After installing Catalina, I use BCA to install Windows 10 the latest build and it went without any hiccup, and then only after that can Mac OS be upgraded again to Big Sur.

That being said, it seems to be a bug of Big Sur 11.4, hope it will be resolved in the next release
