Compatibility Getting in the Way:
1. Verify Compatibility:
Updating may not be an option. If such is the case, that is because it does not meet the hardware requirements for iOS13 and iOS14. So, if compatible...
2. Disable Cellular:
Disable Cellular (as found in Settings), incase it is getting in the way.
3. Backup Prior to Updating:
Go Here: Making a Backup of your Device - Apple Support. Use iCloud or your computer.
