changing voice on Google maps

I have been trying to change the Google Maps voice on my iPhone (iPhone SE) from English US to English UK. I went into settings/general/language & region and selected English UK. However, I was not asked to confirm my choice and there was no “done” message. The checkmark remained on English UK but the change did not go through. I tried Google Maps navigation and the voice was still American. Any suggestions? I just upgraded to 14.6 but it didn’t work before I upgraded so may not be related. Thanks!

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you've had issues changing the voice options within the Google Maps app. We'll do our best to assist.


In the Google Maps app, select your profile at the very top right, next to the search bar. Select Settings here, then scroll down again to tap on 'Voice Search'. There is a few options here for English. Select the most appropriate and then the Back button on the top left side to save the changes (On our app, there doesn't appear to be an English (UK) option but there is one for English (Great Britain).


If that doesn't solve it, then you'd want to contact Google Maps Support for further assistance: Google Maps Help
