Apple Watch Battery Drain and WatchOS 7.5

Is anyone else having a rapid battery drain with WatchOS 7.5? I have had this issue in the past where Apple updates the WatchOS software and my 9-month old Series 6 starts losing battery life at a rapid pace. I had it in the fall last year with WatchOS 7.0 and again with one of the intermediate releases. Both times the issue was fixed by another patch, but I'm getting tired of upgrading to the latest OS only to see my battery life plummet (I'm at 48% right now after only having the watch on for 5 hours).

Does Apple not include battery life in its beta testing? This is fairly ridiculous.

If the battery drains too fast after an update, see all the replies to:

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.

I have this issue too, 6 hours battery time. I sent in my watch and the returned after spending less than an hour trying to reproduce the problem. I then spent 15 hours troubleshooting with Apple support.. running diagnostics, collecting logs etc. The logs confirmed that the battery health was good but that the battery was drained abnormallu fast. So after having the issue confirmed and jumping through hoops for 15 hours or more I was informed that it probably would be a paid repair... despite Apple not being able to tell me what the problem is. Thank you Apple indeed. I will be upgrading to another brand of paper weight.

Ive had the same issue, with the battery draining fast on my series 6 watch (with virtual SIM) .... especially overnight 80% loss!

The only way I found to resolve this issue was to keep my iPhone within bluetooth distance of my watch and switched on (even overnight) now only 15/20% loss.

Doing this resolved the battery problem, Im guessing if the Watch is not near the iPhone it has to use more power communicating via 3G/4G itself with whatever its doing?

I also just updated my watch recently and experienced rapid battery loss, I saw some other post about unpairing and repairing to solve the issue but now I cannot pair my watch w my phone. I’ve tried to my knowledge every trouble shooting in the book…any suggestions?

Watch w pair then go to a screen that says “Connecting with IPhone this may take a few moments” and then it will automatically unpair

Yep, no fix with WatchOS 8.1, hard reset and unpairing are fruitless fixes. Had ZERO issues with my series 5 40mm until wOS8, battery would last all day and when I would go to bed at 10:00 pm it would be at 30% and that was with ALWAYS ON enabled. Now with everything set to practically no background refresh and no always on, I'm at 30% battery by 1:00 pm!! And then it goes into low power mode an hour later. This is unbelievable that this update hasn't addressed this KNOWN issue!! New features are useless if the update affects battery life of hardware.
