What is replacing iPhoto and how do I get my photos if I can't open it now that I upgraded to Big Sur?

iPhoto was discontinued and replaced by "Photos" in 2015.
Hold down the option key while opening the Photos app and it will give you the option of selecting your iPhotos library and it will convert it to Photos.
