Family member app approval

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you're having issues approving an app purchase for your child. We'll do our best to assist with this.

It sounds like you're using Ask to Buy with your child. If so, then this explains how to approve a request: Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy

Sometimes the notification appears on our (parent) device(s) and disappears, but it's pretty easy to find the request in Notification Center on your associated device.

If your child has the app available in the App Store, it should still send you the request to buy (since this feature is set up as default for children under 13 years of age).

If the app isn't available in the App Store, there isn't a way without removing the restrictions from their device (or the account): Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
