My watch will not stream over cellular data. I have a cell plan, and the settings are enabled on the iPhone. I have turned the watch off/on and did a hard reset. Does anybody have any tips on further troubleshooting

I have a cell plan for my watch, I have turned the watch off/on and did a hard reset. However I still am unable to stream music over cellular data because I need to enable it in the iPhone settings. I made sure those were enabled and I am still not able to stream music over cell data. Any tips for further troubleshooting?

Hello,

I had the hardest time figuring out why my Apple Watch would not work over my Beats ear buds. It worked when I first purchased my Apple Watch, but now all of a sudden it doesn’t work. I did the settings, music, cellular check and everything was on.

Bottom line I had an update that needed to be completed on my watch. Once I finished the update, the music began to work and then a screen popped up on my Apple Watch and said it was up to date.

Apple always figures a way to make you update devices no matter what.

Thank you Apple. Hopefully that might help some people, knowing they shutdown your ability to stream until you download their update.

Hi, Colby_. Thank you for posting your question to the Apple Support Communities.

From what we understand, you are noticing an issue when streaming music using your cellular data connection. We know that being able to stay connected with your Apple Watch is important to you and we’re happy to help you with this.

We’re glad to see that you were able to review the Apple Support article for listening to music, podcasts and audiobooks with your Apple Watch already.

To make sure we get started on the right path, we’d like to help you make sure that your cellular data connection is enabled and online as expected with your Apple Watch. To start, please review the instructions in the following Apple Support articles:

Set up cellular on Apple Watch - Apple Support

Use Apple Watch with a cellular network - Apple Support

We would also like to confirm that the Music app is enabled to use the cellular plan for your Apple Watch. To check this, first open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Select the Cellular settings here before checking to be sure that Music is enabled in this menu.

If you continue to notice the same issue after checking these settings on your devices, we can help you more. To continue, can you let us know if you notice any similar issues when using the Music app with a Wi-Fi connection? Can we also know if this same problem comes up when your iPhone is nearby?

We hope that the information above helps you find a solution so that you can get back to streaming music with your cellular connection.

Cheers!

Same problem here. Verified all settings. Followed same steps and still can’t stream Apple Music over cellular. All other apps seem to work fine under cellular, including making receiving calls. Only issue is with Apple Music… all activated, all verified. Forced restart. Unpaired and paired watch again. Nothing is fixing it…. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I went through the trouble of making an Apple forum profile to echo this point. Apple Watch series 7 is dropping soon, so Apple has figured out a way to force people to update their Series 5 and 6 watches. I bought a cellular Apple Watch so I can run/cycle and listen to music without a phone. Because streaming capabilities were blocked, my Apple watch was basically useless to me for several weeks before I finally gave in and updated, which I'm sure will render my 8 month old product functionally obsolete soon after the release of series 7. I'm over it.
