How to transfer everything to a new Mac?

I have a lot of apps and files on my current 2012 MacBook pro. If I get a new MacBook pro, what is the easiest fastest way to transfer all my apps and files to it so it's basically a duplicate of my old MacBook? Thanks. PS: I am on Mojave OS now.

The most trouble free way to move to a new machine, is using the Setup Assistant on the initial boot of a brand new machine— you have one shot here. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205749

If that opportunity has past, the second best way is use the Migration Assistant.
