Can I listen to lossless, 16/44.1kHZ, over airplay2, or not?

When steaming a lossless song from Apple Music, will the 16 or 24 bit 44.1khz lossless be down sampled to 256kbps AAC then sent over airplay, or will it be streamed over airplay using ALAC at 44.1kHz? Is Apple Music, on 14.6, currently capable of streaming lossless via airplay2?

From what I’ve read that people have posted after conducting experiments, lossless Apple Music from an iOS device over Airplay 2 will be converted to lossy 320kbps AAC. I wish I knew why that was and when a fix for it might be released. I have also read that using Airplay 1 will result in lossless ALAC files being transmitted out, such as to a 1st generation Airport Express. This is a helpful article:

I am using an iPhone 11 Pro, streaming via AirPlay 2 to an NAD integrated amp and would love for Apple to update Apple Music to send ALAC over Airplay 2.
